I wasn’t lying about the Oreos.
This is actually a thing. This is a whole Oreo stuffed inside a very large, very delicious chocolate chip cookie.
This is serious business people. I don’t joke about cookies inside of other cookies.
I don’t even have good flavour text to go with this recipe.
It’s exactly what it sounds like.
Make cookie dough.
Scoop dough.
Smoosh around a double stuff Oreo in its entirety.
Bake.
Eat.
Yeah.
So I’m just going to drop this recipe in front of you guys and back away slowly. You don’t need me. You just need these cookies.
Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
Recipe from Picky Palate via BonAppetit.com
This is not my usual Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, but I suspected that mine would spread too much and reveal its delicious innards prematurely, so I used the cookie recipe included in the original recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 package Double Stuff Oreo cookies
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream butter and sugars together with a mixer until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined.
- Using a cookie scoop take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of an Oreo Cookie. Take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of Oreo cookie. Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo cookie is enclosed with dough. Place onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
Makes about 2 dozen enormous cookies. It is like 3 cookies in one afterall!
How could you not fall in love with something this insane?

OMG Amanda….I made these to bring to a Superbowl party tonight – I don’t think they’re going to even make it there! These are AMAZING! My brothers have declared this their favourite cookie. I think next time I might test a few other surprises inside – like a toblerone triangle, or a piece of chocolate bar! :) This cookie-inside-a-cookie has opened up a whole new world of baking. amanda – They still taste good after they fully cool down! They’ll still be soft, just not gooey. However, I wouldn’t keep them around much longer than a couple days as the stiffer cookie dough recipe gets that “hard” feeling a little sooner.
I had made chocolate chip cookies with my nieces last weekend, and I decided to try the Toll House cookie dough with the Oreos. You were right, they spread all over the pan, leaving an Oreo lump in the middle. Not that they weren’t fabulous! I will definitely try them with this recipe and then share, share, share!

OMG! You inspired me to try this tonight – I took a shortcut by using pre-made dough and the cookies didn’t turn out nice and compact like yours but still tasty. Also tried it with Girl Scout Thin Mints – yum! Thanks for sharing and all the great recipes.

I tried to half the recipe because I didnt want to make so many and it spread all over the pan! what did I do wrong? is there any way of making a smaller amount without this happening?
That’s odd, halving the recipe shouldn’t affect the spreading! What type of pan did you use? Insulated pans don’t work as well because the even heat distribution causes the bottom of the cookie to not set, thus the spreading. Also, make sure the butter is just softened but not melting.
One thing you could try would be to refrigerate the formed cookies on the cookie sheet, covered with saran wrap, for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours before baking them. Cold cookie dough doesn’t spread as much.

I NEED TO MAKE THESE ASAP!
These were amazing! I am currently (like, literally right now they are in the oven) attempting these a 2nd time, but with a twist…. Mint Oreo’s with chocolate cookie on the outside that has Andes mint chips in the batter. Hope they are as good as the original!

that’s annoying.
My only problem with these is that the dough spreads out too much when I bake them. I’ve tried altering nearly everything in the recipe to prevent them from doing so, down to even putting ingredients in in a different order. How do you keep them from spreading out on the cookie sheet?
lizzie – Totally! You could even use Nutter Butters, I hear those work great too!

noelle & Khepri – My best suggestion would be to refrigerate the dough for about a half hour after you form the cookies around the oreos, before you bake them. Also, don’t use an insulated cookie sheet. They’re designed to have an even distribution of heat between the oven and the sheet instead of the sheet being the hottest thing touching the cookie. This is bad for this type of cookie, because you want the bottom to set quickly so that spreading doesn’t occur. My last suggestion would be to buy an oven thermometer and see what your oven’s version of 350 degrees actually is. Oven temperatures vary much more widely than you would think. I’ve had ovens where 350 on the dial actually meant 330 in the oven.

I will be making these 1st week of December for a potluck. I’m glad to find a recipe! I will, however, be adding mint extract to the chocolate chip cookie recipe, and I will be using President’s Choice Candy Cane oreos in the middle :D

They’re preeetty sweet. Imagine taking a big bite out of a standard chocolate chip cookie, then taking a bite out of an Oreo while the chocolate chip cookie was still in your mouth. Not for the faint of heart!
yeah im being a bit thick right now but how much does it mean by one cup? does it mean a tablespoon?

“one cup” is a standard measurement used mostly in North America! It’s equal to 16 tablespoons, 250 ml or 8 fl oz.

Oh goodness, I forgot, 250 ml is the quick conversion I use at the supermarket when deciding how much of a liquid ingredient I need to buy! The ACTUAL conversion is one cup to 236.5ml! Sorry to initially mislead you!

I tried making these and they flattened out how do you stop that from happening? Maybe a cupcake pan?
Oooh a muffin tin would be a fabulous idea to help with spreading! You could also put the dough in the fridge after you form them around the Oreos for 30 minutes to an hour. Especially if it’s a particularly hot day!
