About

I love to bake. When I’m sad, I bake to cheer myself up. When I’m happy I bake to express my joy. Basically, when I have time, I bake.

One reason I decided to start this blog was because I am obsessed with trying new recipes. I don’t often don’t repeat a recipe unless I get a weird craving for it, or if someone requests it. It’s not that I hate doing it and I definitely have keepers in my recipe box that I like to go back and fiddle with or will swear by… I just love trying new recipes!

One of the reasons I fell in love with baking was because it was like science! Mix various parts together into an odd looking goo, apply heat, technique and general awesomeness and out pops this delicious concoction! Each new recipe is like a science experiment with an unproven hypothesis. Will a gorgeous, moist cake come out of the oven? Or a rock? Sometimes experiments go *BOOM* and that fact is what makes the successes all the more delicious.

So here’s my blog, tracking and reporting on my experiments. What did I learn, what was something I had never done before?  Sometimes the recipes go boom, sometimes I do. And sometimes it’s just… magic. But it all goes here.

I hope you have as much fun as I do.

    All the best,
    Christina

  2. I am paraphasing, but you said there a few recipes that make you stop in your track. Well, the Chocolate Malt Cake has done this for me. I cannot open it to get the recipe. I would get mega brownie points from my granddaughter if I made this.

    • Are you saying you’re having trouble getting that particular page to load? Is it just not coming up? Are you able to view everything else on the site okay?

I’m sorry your having problems with the site :( I’d like to help you any way I can!

  3. This Blog is very amazing :) and you alway present everything in the perfect light and I just want to try it out because it looks so delicious. =)
Maybe if it’s not too much to ask could you write next to the ingredients how much you’ve used of them (in g or kg), because I’m not sure if there is a standard cup I should use to measure the ingredients.
    Thank you!
    Greetings from Germany =)

  4. Erin – So glad you like it! Thank YOU! :D

Wladislaw – Being from North America, I do measure everything in volume which I know can be tough for those in Europe. I’m certainly not used to weighing things. Would it help at all if I offered measurements in millilitres? I know that’s still a volume measurement, but at least it’s a little more specific.

  5. I love your blog! The pictures are beautiful, how do you capture the light? I also really enjoy baking and cooking and, like you, I rarely make two things twice because there are so many delicious looking recipes out there to try:) Can’t wait to see your upcoming creations and try out some of your recipes!

    • Right now I just rely on natural light coming through my living room window! Natural light is the best for food photography of any kind. It’s been a huge pain through the winter though, as it’s usually dark when I get home from work. I really need to buy some better lighting! My kitchen lighting makes everything look a little stark!

Thanks so much for you comments!

  6. Hi there, I’m about to try your gorgeous Oreo Cookie Cheesecake. You say to back them at 275 degrees. Is that oF or oC?

    Cheers,

    :o)

  7. Stephanie – Yay, thank you so much! :)

Amanda – I missed all you folks too, I’m so sorry for being gone so long. You’re sweet! <3

Anon – Thank YOU for your wonderfully kind words! I'm not sure I deserve them, but thank you!!

  8. did not read the blogs (maybe i should have). but do you ship orders? i was flipping through the t.v. and stopped on some food channel, when i came across this recipe. however, the person shipped orders. i just cannot remember the name of the company.

  9. Hey!

I just came across your blog, because I have seen a pic of one of your cakes on “we heart it” a few days ago. They look so delicious and i’ll try to bake one of those amazing cakes for sure!

I love the way you kinda express your thoughts or emotions by baking! You’re amazing and really talented even if I don’t know how they taste, because I have never tasted one of your creations. But I’m pretty sure, they’re just fantastic! Keep baking and never stop!

Oh my gosh, all these lovely cakes made me so hungry :)

    Lots of love!

PS. Sorry for the horrible English, but I’m not a native speaker!

  10. Hi, I love your blog and have made several recipes but I noticed there is an error on the recipes I am trying to get to. Is this just an error or are you going to take the blog down? If you could email me the recipe for Trevor’s Alaska cookies and the Kentucky butter cake that would be awesome. I’ve made lots of your recipes but those ones are my favorite.
