I’m melting.

It’s been around 30°C/90°F for several days now and as much as I love when the sun and my shorts come out (every Seattlite observes the sun with wonderment in their eyes), I’m melting.

For the last two nights, I’ve woken up in a sweat in bed, and had to move myself and my pillow over to the floor in front of the window.

The beauty of Seattle is no matter how hot it gets during the day, it always gets nice and cool at night. Unfortunately, sometimes it can take a little time for the indoors to catch up with the outdoors.

With the weather this way, there was no way I was turning on the oven.

Espresso-Chocolate Shortbread

I made you cookies!

Well… I wish I made you cookies. It’s hard to bake you things over the internet. Also, even if it was easy to send baked goods over the internet, I’d be lying.

I made me cookies. I totally indulged myself.

It wouldn’t seem that way because these cookies aren’t soft and gooey. They’re not packed with nutella or oozing with salted caramel or any crazy combination of the two.

Oh jeepers… a combo of nutella and salted caramel.. that would be so.. so…

Galactic Empire

What’s this? A mid-week update? Is this a special occasion?

Why yes! Yes it is.

Tomorrow is my 2 year anniversary at work! I wanted to celebrate with some goodies but wanted to also somehow make them a little more special to the day than my usual Friday fare. Something featuring the Dark Lord.

So what do Darth Vader and my work have in common? The company I work for has jokingly been referred to in the past as “The Empire”. Not just in a “this is a huge corporate empire” sort of way, but actually in the “Join the dark side..” empire sort of way. By this point you can probably figure out where I work, but I’m going to pretend you don’t and just continue omitting the actual name.
